Maria Jabeen

Maria Jabeen from Gilgit-Baltistan is a social activist by heart and a multi-skilled project management professional who deeply believes in the diversity as strength of a society for significant development in true sense. During her Bachelor’s degree from GCU Lahore, her passion for voluntary work and activism got her to be a Global Xchange Alumni in 2009-a six month voluntary exchange program by VSO and British Council which gave her an opportunity to serve underprivileged in Pakistan, UK and Kenya. After which she worked as steering committee member in the British council’s “Ilmpossible campaign”. Being Deputy General Manager she led multiple projects of capacity building and emergency response activities in various parts of the Pakistan. Her aspirations are to work on youth and social policies to streamline eloquent engagement of youth in Gilgit-Baltistan. She utilizes her leisure time by connecting and mentoring youth with various practical platforms through social media and sports engagement. She has ventured herself into professional photography and paragliding along with other outdoor sports.

Jublee Bano

Jublee Bano belongs to mountainous area, District Hunza Nagar, Gilgit Baltistan. She has done MSC economics and currently doing MPHIL in international Development Studies. She has completed two months short course in Gender inclusion in Water Resource Management from University of Queensland under Australian Pakistan Awards Scholarship in 2014. Jublee has been working in various capacities including social entrepreneurship, child protection, democratic governance, livelihood and communication expert. She has successfully executed a project “Social entrepreneurship”, in which marginalized women from slum areas were identified and enhanced their skills in marble mosaic work, formation of women business associations and linked them with market. This project got high appreciation and achieved multiple positive results like women empowerment and waste management. She also worked as communication expert in World Bank funded nationwide poverty targeting survey in 2010. Jublee is currently working in civil society organization “Trust for democratic Governance in Pakistan”, which is working for democratic governance through electoral reforms. She aims to contribute in constitutional rights of Gilgit Baltistan and engage voluntarily with different civil society organizations.
