Mr. Abdul Basit is an Associate Research Fellow at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Mr. Basit specializes in issues of politics, violence, religious extremism, terrorism and security in South Asia. He has co-authored a book entitled Dynamics of Taliban Insurgency in FATA, published from Pakistan by Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS). In addition, Basit has written extensively in reputed academic journals and mainstream English dailies including Daily Times and the Express Tribune, The News and Daily Times. His commentaries have also been published from by RSIS (Singapore). Basit regularly appears as terrorism and security experts on a number of TV news channels including BBC, Channel News Asia, and Pakistan Television News (PTV) etc. He recently wrote a chapter entitled “Pakistan’s Inextricable Role in Afghanistan’s Future,” in Afghanistan after the Western Downward, published from the US by Rowman and Littlefield. Mr.Basit is associated with IPD as Visiting Research Fellow.
