International Young Diplomat School (IYDS)
The International Young Diplomat School (IYDS) is a pioneering initiative of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies aimed at addressing the needs of emerging young leaders between the ages of 16-35 years who have a deep interest and background in any discipline or profession. IYDS is a model of Summer School of international standards that offers three days of engaging and illuminating practical understanding of diplomacy and its worldwide practices from experienced Ambassadors, Diplomats, Policy Makers, and Leaders, including visits to Embassies and Briefing Sessions at important ministries.
The course is designed for dynamic and exceptional professionals, including mid-career leaders and students from universities with different academic backgrounds, who are ready to expose themselves to innovative ideas with fresh diplomacy skills, leadership, and decision-making to cope with the challenging national and international environment.
During the program, young diplomats will have interactive briefing sessions with Diplomats/Leaders from various countries and international NGOs based in Pakistan. They will gain deep insight into the work of Diplomatic Missions/INGOs and policymakers, learn about the issues of the countries, and how they implement policies in the world system. The program also provides an excellent opportunity to enhance communication and leadership skills, contribute in a practical manner, and suggest policy changes.
The program includes visits to different diplomatic missions in Islamabad and information sessions with Ambassadors, diplomats, and other embassy staff. The aim is to provide young professionals with diverse backgrounds, students, and faculty members across Pakistan an opportunity to learn from experienced leaders, enhance their skills, and prepare themselves to become future diplomats and policymakers.
