Practical courses and workshops on diplomacy, negotiation, geopolitics and policy writing, designed for your group and taught by IPDS faculty with serving and former practitioners.
Training is designed for the people in the room. We work with five groups:
Junior and mid-career diplomats and foreign-service officers.
Business leaders and managers working across borders.
Students and faculty in international relations and related fields.
Officials in ministries, departments and public bodies.
Staff of UN agencies, development partners and NGOs.
Typical formats are below. Timeframes are indicative and are confirmed in the proposal; fees are quoted on proposal.
Half a day or one day on a single skill or theme.
Two to five days, combining sessions, exercises and visits.
Several weeks, part-time, with assessment and a certificate.
A programme designed for one organisation’s staff, run once or every year.
Courses can be held at IPDS in Islamabad, at your premises in Pakistan or abroad, online, or in a hybrid format. Participants receive an IPDS certificate of completion.
Tell us what you need through the enquiry form. A member of the team replies to arrange a short conversation.
We discuss the question, the audience, the timeline and any constraints, and suggest the format that fits.
A short proposal sets out the scope, method, team, deliverables, timeline and fee. Nothing starts until it is agreed in writing.
The work is carried out by the relevant IPDS centre, with editorial review by the Research Desk before anything is delivered.
We present the findings or run a debriefing, and agree any follow-on work.
Our open programmes show how we teach:
Diplomatic practice for young professionals, with briefings at embassies in Islamabad.
A structured diploma programme.
Short certified courses.
Leadership and diplomacy for young women from across the region.
IPDS is an independent, nonpartisan institute. These commitments apply to every engagement:
IPDS keeps full editorial control of anything published under its name. Findings are not agreed with, or changed for, the organisation that commissioned the work.
Commissioned work can stay confidential to the organisation that asked for it. If it is published, the commissioning organisation is named.
IPDS does not lobby or campaign on behalf of any government, company or organisation.
We decline work that would conflict with our nonpartisan mandate or with existing commitments, and we tell you early if we cannot take a project on.
Every engagement follows the IPDS research and editorial standards.
