About the Centre

Understanding Pakistan's Eurasian Neighbourhood

The Centre for Central Asia and Eurasian Studies is one of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies' (IPDS) constituent centres of study, focused on the geopolitics, economics and cultural dynamics of Central Asia, the Caucasus and the wider Eurasian region.

The Centre's work follows Pakistan's evolving relationships across a region moving rapidly up the country's foreign-policy agenda — from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation engagement to a string of new strategic partnerships signed with Central Asian states since 2024. It combines primary-source research, policy dialogue and public-facing reference tools, including the Pakistan–Central Asia & Eurasia Relations Tracker below, to give policymakers, diplomats, researchers and the public sourced, current material on the region.

As part of IPDS — an autonomous, non-partisan think-and-do tank headquartered in Islamabad — the Centre draws on the Institute's standing engagement with foreign ministries, embassies and multilateral bodies active across the region.
