Programmes that help publics in Pakistan and abroad understand one another: commemorations, translations and book launches, reading corners in libraries and universities, and expert commentary for the media.
We work with organisations that want to reach Pakistani audiences, or to present Pakistan to the world, with substance rather than publicity:
National days, anniversaries of diplomatic relations, cultural weeks and visits.
Observances, campaigns and public engagement with students and young professionals.
Translations, exhibitions and literary programmes.
Public communication of foreign-policy initiatives, with expert input from IPDS centres.
Each programme is planned with the partner and documented afterwards:
Seminars and receptions marking national days and anniversaries of diplomatic relations, with speakers from government, academia and the diplomatic corps.
Publishing a country’s literature in Urdu and Pakistan’s regional languages, and launching it with the embassy.
Permanent corners in libraries and universities that give students lasting access to a country’s literature and history.
IPDS analysts available for interviews, op-eds and background briefings on foreign policy.
Embassy briefings for the International Young Diplomats School and student dialogues on a country or theme.
Coverage, interviews and special features with partner media, including The Diplomatic Insight and DiploTV.
Typical formats are below. Timeframes are indicative and are confirmed in the proposal; fees are quoted on proposal.
A seminar, launch or commemoration, with a short report and photographs.
A series of linked events and outputs around a theme or anniversary.
A year of activities agreed in advance with an embassy or institution.
Tell us what you need through the enquiry form. A member of the team replies to arrange a short conversation.
We discuss the question, the audience, the timeline and any constraints, and suggest the format that fits.
A short proposal sets out the scope, method, team, deliverables, timeline and fee. Nothing starts until it is agreed in writing.
The work is carried out by the relevant IPDS centre, with editorial review by the Research Desk before anything is delivered.
We present the findings or run a debriefing, and agree any follow-on work.
A few examples of programmes delivered with partners:
With the Embassy of Kazakhstan and the National Library of Pakistan, 2024.
Corners opened with embassies and the UN Information Centre in national and university libraries.
A record of programmes with diplomatic missions since 2011.
With the ECO Cultural Institute and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, 2025.
IPDS is an independent, nonpartisan institute. These commitments apply to every engagement:
IPDS keeps full editorial control of anything published under its name. Findings are not agreed with, or changed for, the organisation that commissioned the work.
Commissioned work can stay confidential to the organisation that asked for it. If it is published, the commissioning organisation is named.
IPDS does not lobby or campaign on behalf of any government, company or organisation.
We decline work that would conflict with our nonpartisan mandate or with existing commitments, and we tell you early if we cannot take a project on.
Every engagement follows the IPDS research and editorial standards.
Journalists looking for comment or an interview should use the media inquiry route, which reaches the team the same day.
Use the enquiry form to tell us what you need, when you need it and who it is for. A member of the team will reply to arrange a short scoping conversation.
