The Centre for Africa Studies is one of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies' (IPDS) constituent centres of study, established to build sustained research capacity on a continent of 54 states whose political, economic and security trajectories increasingly shape global diplomacy.
The Centre's work will track African political economy and development strategy, peace and security dynamics across the continent's sub-regions, the accelerating footprint of external powers — China, the United States, the European Union, Gulf states, Türkiye and India — and the diplomatic, trade and technical-cooperation ties between Pakistan and African states, including through OIC and South-South cooperation channels.
As a newly launched centre within IPDS — an autonomous, non-partisan think-and-do tank headquartered in Islamabad — it is building out its research agenda and welcomes researchers, practitioners and Africa-focused scholars interested in contributing.
