The Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), Astana, Kazakhstan, to strengthen cooperation in joint research, geostrategic studies, policy dialogue and international cooperation.
The signed MoU was presented to IPDS, represented by Muhammad Asif Noor, Executive Director IPDS, on the sidelines of the 2026 Hehe Culture Forum in Tiantai, Taizhou, China, on behalf of Zhumabek Sarabekov, Director of IWEP. Dr. Lidiya Parkhomchik, Chief Researcher of the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) of Kazakhstan, presented the signed MoU during the forum on behalf of IWEP.
Under the agreement the two institutions intend to cooperate on joint research and policy analysis, including Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations; joint studies of developments affecting South Asia, Central Asia, Europe and Eurasia; peace and security; and public diplomacy. They also plan conferences, roundtables, seminars and webinars in Pakistan, in Kazakhstan or online; joint publications; exchanges of researchers, scholars and diplomats; and programmes for young researchers.
The two sides have identified a Pakistan–Kazakhstan Strategic Dialogue, a Pakistan–Central Asia Dialogue, a Eurasia Geostrategic Dialogue and a South Asia–Central Asia Policy Dialogue as possible joint initiatives, together with work on geopolitical risk and foresight, peace and security research, and a young researchers programme. The MoU runs for three years and may be renewed by agreement.
IWEP is a Kazakh think tank in Astana, founded in 2003, working on regional geostrategy, politics, economics, international relations and security. It is the second Kazakh institution to sign with IPDS this month, following the National Analytical Center (NAC) in Astana.
